(Over Our Dead Bodies)…Human shields to protect military installations from US aggression
Syrian activists have initiated a civil web-campaign called by “Over Our Dead Bodies,” this campaign’s aim is forming a shield of civilian citizens (human chains) that surround military installations in order to protect them from the possible US aggression against Syria.
Activists said that participants do know the risks of such adventure, and will do it on their responsibility.
The reporter, Ogareit Dandash, who is one of the organizers of the campaign, said to Ninar Radio Channel that “it is a personal initiative by a group of activists and friends, I am one of them; it aims at delivering a message to the world saying that pro-Syria citizens will not stand idle in the face of the western-American aggression, this aggression is a service given to our arch-enemy Israel.”
Dandash added “we invited everyone through social media websites; we will announce the coming steps in a press conference tomorrow 11 p.m. in Umayyad Square because this square hold a symbolic importance.”
Danadash continued: “we may not be able to protect all installations, but at least we will endeavor to form human shields for our homeland’s installations in order to protect them from this aggression and also to deliver a message to the world that if they target these installations, they will be targeting civilians who tried to protect these sites through their bodies and lives. We want to deliver a message that says only Syrians are the ones who decide what they want.”
Answering the question of who also joined the campaign from abroad, Dandash said that “we are still communicating and making our contacts, but because circumstances impede organizations or other representatives from approaching Syria. These organizations will announce themselves, so it will not be thought that we are the once who will talk on behalf of them. I want to confirm that we received a wide response from different Arab countries, but not all. That was because we could not contact all countries, but still at least we received the support of a lot of countries like the countries of South America.”
However, there will be representatives from Cuban-Arab Friendship Society besides some people from Lebanon and from neighboring countries who are able to cross the Syrian borders.
Dandash commented on the name of the campaign saying “we chose this name because it is what we really do only have; these bodies will be deployed for the sake of Syria, and anyone who can, will carry this phrase in demonstrations or in other activities outside Syria.”
Finally Dandash said “this campaign is available now o Facebook in full details in English and Arabic because Syria’s supporters are not all Arab. Some do not talk Arabic, that’s why we address them and address the world public opinion that had been misled over the last two years.”
