The Russian business gets rid of the Western assets on background of provocative statements of the Foreign Affairs Minister of the French Republic. The decision on a freezing of some Russian-French economic projects for an indefinite time can be made in the next few days. France is no longer seen as a reliable and honest partner for economic inter-state cooperation.

Will sanctions backfire?

19.03.2014

Russian "energy kings" Igor Sechin and Alexei Miller may be added to the list of persons whose European accounts will be frozen in light of the application of sanctions against Russia. In addition, the heads of the state companies fall under EU visa restrictions. What are the possible consequences of such pressure on the key players in the energy market for the EU?

On Monday, after the announcement of the results of the referendum in the Crimea according to which the majority of the republic's residents voted for joining the Russian Federation, the European Union announced the names of the Russians who may be "black listed."

Western European and American authorities are introducing sanctions not against ordinary citizens but high officials and businessmen whose foreign accounts will be frozen and travel restricted. The list is expected to include Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov, head of the presidential administration Sergei Ivanov, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev. Heads of Russian state-owned "Rosneft" and "Gazprom" Igor Sechin and Alexei Miller may be in the same boat, which attracted a great deal of attention in the media today.

As emphasized by the representatives of the European Union, the Russian "energy kings" may become personas non grata in the EU and the U.S., but so far (!) they are talking about sanctions for individuals and not to the officials. The Russian state monopoly responded to the EU statement with disbelief. "Gazprom" joked that in light of such sanctions European airlines will be profiting because they will have to bring partners to Russia, and "Rosneft" stated that the EU will hurt itself. The Russian experts interviewed by Pravda.Ru expressed general uncertainty about the implementation of the threats by the West. Besides, Russia can always answer by reducing energy supply, which may lead to a lack of heat for domestic purposes during the cold season. European voters are very sensitive to the slightest loss in comfort.

"They say that the lists included the heads of state companies ... It so happened that the economy is mostly comprised of state-owned companies that operate in the foreign market, such as "Gazprom," "Rosfnet." "Transneft." Well, they can do it, but I do not think that this will provide them any additional incentives for partnership or certain concessions and compromises with respect to these partners in the future," shared his opinion Vice Rector of MGIMO Artem Malgin. "In fact, these methods are a very serious psychological element. Crises come and go. This crisis, by and large, is not ours, it is happening in the neighboring country. So far it is developing without a single fired shot. But these threats create certain prejudices and complexes that the Russian representatives of big business may still have after the completion of this crisis. They are unlikely to go away quickly, and respectively, the general climate of the relations will be formed."

Indeed, politics aside, we should not forget that the international business continues to interact, and at the moment there are unfinished transactions in the works, such as purchase by "Rosneft" of oil trading business Morgan Stanley registered in London and headquartered in New York City. Despite the statements of American publications such as The Wall Street Journal that the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. Treasury could block the deal, so far these words are just empty threats. For example, the same publication reported last week that Washington has worked out a scheme to isolate Russia from the dollar, which has been unanimously recognized by experts as fantasy. There can be multitude of such threats in the media, and it is not a given that they will be implemented and not refuted the same day.

"Sanctions are generally not a simple question, there are numerous rumors, denials, many leaks," said Anton Soroko, an analyst of the Investment Holding Finam. "I am inclined to think that sanctions can be directional. Freezing the accounts of senior officials, CEOs, maybe visa restrictions for a small group of the Russian population. But at the same time I do not expect sanctions against Russian companies. It will be very negative for the EU because there are export and import articles that would be difficult to replace for the European countries."

According to Soroko, the EU has very little leverage over Russia because of strong dependence on energy prices. It is not surprising that the representatives of "Rosneft" and "Gazprom" joked about Europe shaking its fist.

"In the event of an escalation both sides, the EU and Russia, will be hurt. But the EU may suffer more because it is still very much tied to our gas, and in the short term, if there is any interruption of supply or rise in the price of gas, they cannot replace it very quickly," said in an interview with Pravda.Ru a leading specialist of the Institute for Energy and Finance Yuri Rykov. "But I think that Russia will not agree to such steps, because it will be a very serious disaster for the EU. I think that after certain political statements this issue should be resolved, of course, if we do not assume the worst case scenario, freezing the accounts and other things. No one needs escalation. The United States may be interested in this to some extent because it would destabilize the situation in Russia."

Last Friday, the EU officials said that visa and economic sanctions would be introduced against 130 Russian officials and large businessmen. The "blacklist" already exists, but when and in what form the sanctions will be implemented remains a mystery. Apparently, the EU officials are in no hurry to bring the threat to action, still expecting that Russia will change its position in relation to the Crimea.

Russia Uncovers Arms Smuggling Route Through Ukraine

MOSCOW, March 20 (RIA Novosti) – Russian law enforcement raided an arms group that smuggled weapons to the country’s North Caucasus from the European Union via Ukraine, the country’s Federal Security Service said Thursday.

Agents at a Ukrainian-Russian land border crossing detained several of the smugglers, who had in their possession pistols made by Desert Eagle, Smith & Wesson, SIG Sauer and others.

“Information was received about the procurement of a significant number of handguns from a member country of the EU, which were delivered to the territory of Ukraine,” the agency said in a statement.

“From there, the weapons were hidden in recessed areas in cars and shipped to regions in the North Caucasus,” the statement added.

Simultaneously, law enforcement detained other accomplices in the North Caucasus. All together 40 firearms were seized.

The agency did not comment on the final destination and purpose of the weapons.

Transdniestria may become part of Russia

20.03.2014

The Supreme Council of the unrecognized republic of Transdniestria appealed to the State Duma of Russia to provide for the possibility of entering the region in Russia in the Russian legislation. After the events in the Crimean Republic the country is under siege. Ukraine imposed restrictions on travel for Russians in Transnistria through its territory. The border was closed for cargo as well.

The information was confirmed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic for International Cooperation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nina Shtanski. "Russian citizens are not allowed in Transnistria and are not let out. Transnistria is home to nearly 200,000 Russian citizens, and not all of them can travel and leave the country through Moldova. This means that people are locked on both sides," said Nina Shtanski.

"So far this problem affects only males with Russian passports, but it has affected not only those traveling by road, people are being removed from trains," she added. The Minister said that blocking goods intended for peacekeepers was unacceptable. "Ukraine is not only a guarantor country in the normalization of the relations, but also a member of peacekeeping operations in which it acts as a military observer," said Nina Shtanski.

Border Service of Ukraine declared that this is done to not allow terrorists allegedly prepared in Transnistria on the Ukrainian territory. According to the authorities of the unrecognized republic, in the near future they face a complete isolation. Under such circumstances, an appeal on behalf of the Chairman of the Parliament of Transnistria Mikhail Burla to the Speaker of the lower house of the Russian parliament Sergei Naryshkin is justified.

The letter states that the Parliament of Transnistria has adopted in the first reading a law recognizing the Russian legislation as part of Transnistrian, and recognizing Russian as a national language. There are concerns that sanctions might follow from the official Chisinau, which would further worsen the "difficult position" of Transnistria. Mikhail Burla also noted that the bill of "Fair Russia" on the facilitation of accession of new Russian territories only makes it possible for Crimea to join.

"We withdrew the bill on a simplified procedure of joining of independent states and territories because the procedure of legal resolution on Crimea has changed," explained to Pravda.Ru Tatiana Moskalkova, deputy chairman of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots.    "Since Crimea has declared itself an independent state, its adoption to the Federation became possible bypassing intermediate contracts, i.e., according to the current legislation. The will of the people is what matters, and enclave status of Transnistria is not an obstacle. "

The deputy believes that Russia should first use all diplomatic instruments and demand the elimination of violations. Until these measures are exhausted, there have to be appeals, but if Moldova does not make conclusions based on the Ukrainian events, Russia is ready to take decisive steps to protect its citizens as it was done in Ukraine, she said.

Meanwhile, Vyacheslav Tobuh, the chairman of the Republican movement of Transdniestria "Recognition," member of the Supreme Council of the TMR, believes that Russia has a legal basis to accept Transdniestria to the Federation. Since there is a declaration of independence, the only thing that needs to be done is recognition of that status, as it was done in Crimea.

"On September 17, 2006, the referendum on Transnistria by an absolute majority made a positive decision on two issues. The first issue is the recognition of the TMR, and the second issue is the gradual entry into the Russian Federation," the expert told Pravda.Ru. "Now we have to hold this position of the people and resist Western propaganda machine that has been working in Moldova on Transnistria," said Vyacheslav Tobuh.

"I think that in Transnistria, like in Crimea, public organizations kept the momentum. We've done our part, now it's up to the leadership of the Russian Federation. We sincerely believe and hope that the will and spirit will prevail, and we will live in one country," said Vyacheslav Tobuh.

Russia's position was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin. According to him, the situation in Transnistria may deteriorate further if Moldova signs an agreement with the EU. "Chisinau does not think about Transnistria and all their actions show that it is not their land. We will draw conclusions based of this reality," said the Deputy Prime Minister.

"The political situation around Transnistria is different from the Crimean," told Pravda.Ru Mikhail Emelyanov, deputy head of "Fair Russia" in the State Duma.
"There's a legitimate government, Moldova observes truce, there have been no threats of armed attack on Transnistria and the lives of the Russian-speaking population. Much will depend on the leadership of Moldova. If there are further steps and even rhetoric aimed at the integration with Romania, Transnistria will immediately be part of Russia."

Moldova President Nicolae Timofti on March 18th said at a press conference that the address of TMR to RF was counterproductive, and was not intended to benefit Moldova or the Russian Federation. If Russia took such a step it would be a wrong decision, it would not add prestige to Russia in the international arena. Timofti, however, admitted that there were similarities between the situation in Ukraine, Crimea and Transnistria.

"Russia will not move on the request for annexing this territory, however, to preserve the legal framework on the left bank of the Dniester, it may recognize Transnistria as an independent state," said an attorney Theo Kyrnats to Moldovan TV channel Publika TV.

"Moscow does not need Transnistria within the boundaries of the Republic of Moldova. According to the plan, that likely is being tested in the east of Ukraine, Russia most likely wants a federation, and not the country under the name Republic of Moldova without Transnistria," said the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Adrian Cioroianu.

However, Moldovan and Romanian experts say that the situation in Ukraine is destroying the existing format of negotiations on the Transnistrian issue. Two of the major international mediators and guarantors of stability in Transnistria are in a state of war." The 5 +2 negotiation format was established in 1993. Under this format Chisinau and Tiraspol are parties in conflict. Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE are mediators, and the U.S. and the EU act as observers. Russia has 400 peacekeepers in Transnistria.

"All pro-Western politicians in the CIS countries should realize that the key to their independence and integrity is not in Washington, not in Brussels, not in Berlin, but in Russia," said deputy Mikhail Emelyanov. "Only Russia's goodwill and its desire to follow international agreements led to the fact that they were recognized painlessly, unlike Yugoslavia, were given the opportunity to develop as independent states and provided assistance, in fact, free of charge, and supplied oil and gas in the early stages. The West stimulates their aggressive behavior against Russia, but at the crucial moment gives them up. This happened in Georgia and Ukraine. Therefore, they should really think hard before performing any anti-Russian actions. "

Ukrainian leadership to hire US mercenaries to suppress eastern regions - source

25 March 2014, 04:40

Private military company will be in charge of suppressing protest movements in Eastern Ukraine, said a source in the country's Security Service. According to him, the name of the company is Greystone Limited.

According to a source cited by ITAR-TASS, Ukrainian authorities believe that the Security Service is not able to suppress the protest mood and neutralize the leaders and activists of the pro-Russian movement in the eastern regions. In particular, the source said, the acting president Alexander Turchinov shares this opinion. "Therefore it was decided to attract foreign mercenaries, who will serve as political police and state security protection, " said the representative of the Security Service.

He informed that the initiative to attract mercenaries belongs to oligarchs Igor Kolomoisky and Sergei Taruta, appointed governors of Dnepropetrovsk and Donetsk regions.

Not so long ago, during a meeting with Turchinov, a plan to stop the protest movements in the eastern regions was discussed. Kolomoysky noted: "why reinvent the wheel if there are real people who understand how and how much to pay," said the source.

According to publicly available information Greystone Limited is a structural part of Blackwater, that was later renamed into Academi. According to military experts, the company is associated with the CIA and the US Defense Department. Its employees participated in the war in Afghanistan after the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime in 2003, the company has appeared in Iraq and became involved in training the new Iraqi armed forces and police, as well as support of the occupation forces.

The Untold History of Ukrainian Nationalist Movement and Jews

27.03.2014

By Sam Craine

If you ask an American Jew their background, chances are they will respond "Russian Jew." That is not entirely correct. The majority of American Jewish families came over from the Ukraine. By the same token, the largest wave of immigration from Ukraine to the United States was Jewish. Yet, a trip to the Ukrainian museum in New York will leave you with the impression that there are, and never were, any Jews in Ukraine. Let's take a trip down memory lane, shall we?

In the time of the Czars, Ukraine was home to the second largest Jewish population center in Europe, after the Warsaw Ghetto in Poland, and followed by Belarus. The Holocaust changed all that. The Warsaw Ghetto was liquidated after an underdog Jewish last stand, bringing us to the Ukrainian nationalist movement.

During the war, the Ukrainian nationalists were Nazi collaborators. They collaborated in the Holocaust. In fact, the Ukrainians were the most enthusiastic Nazi collaborators in the Einsatzgruppe--the Nazi occupied western front, called the Pale Settlement.

The einsatzkommandos were tasked with, and responsible for, the first wave of ethnic cleansing, according to Hitler and Eichmann's "Final Solution" racialist genocide program targeting Jews. Of course, these were innocents and entire families who were murdered--often times in front of each other. Many were tortured, including Jewish children. Most were simply mowed down with machine guns during the first days of Nazi occupation. It was one of the largest mass murders in history. This was the main Nazi campaign that the Ukrainians participated in.

Nazis organized the so-called Galician Unit of the SS--the Nazi secret police force. Galicia was once a land bordering southwestern Ukraine. In Yiddish, the term Galician refers to Jews living in, or with roots in, the southern region of the Pale: Ukraine and Crimea, as well as Hungary and Romania. Many of these innocents were being protected by what the Jews call "righteous gentiles," non-Jews who risked their own lives to shelter Jews from Nazis. They would have survived the war, were it not for Ukrainian Nazis.

In Belarus, the second most Jewish country in the Pale Settlement, the opposite was true. A cable sent from the einsatzkommando leader to Hitler complains that "because of the passivity and political stupidity of the Belarussians it has been virtually impossible to stage pogroms against the Jews." Nazis had no such problem convincing the Ukrainians to volunteer. The Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists pledged their allegiance to Adolph Hitler.

The Ukrainians were not Nazis, according to the ideology of German supremacy. Hitler was pretty outspoken in describing the Ukrainians as an inferior race, for their Slavic blood. The Ukrainian Nazi alliance was only based on one thing: anti-Semitism.

Hitler's Minister of Propaganda Josef Goebbels infamously stated that "if you repeat a lie enough times, people will believe it." He produced and directed the psychological warfare of the Nazi Party. In the Nazi propaganda, Jewry was equated with Bolshevism. The Nazi propaganda that "98%" of the Bolshevik Party were Jews, was aimed at the occupied Ukrainians, with whom the message resonated. In actual fact, only one thousand Jews--out of five million in the Soviet Union--were members of the Bolsheviks, and the vast majority of those were assimilationists.

Stalin appointed Lazar Kaganovitch, Jew, as his head tax collector. That did not help to cure Ukrainian anti-Semitism. Still, it was easy for the Ukrainians to tell the difference between a single "court Jew" and the millions of regular Jewish villagers, and hard for them to not be able to tell the difference. They did not so much associate the Jews with Kaganovich, as they did associate Kaganovich with the Jews, in order to denounce them as a group.

To understand the racist phenomenon, one must look into the origins of the Ukrainian nationalist movement. The term "pogrom" loosely translated means anti-Jewish riot. This is a misnomer. Riots are popular uprisings that turn vandalistic. They are supposed to be spontaneous outbreaks of disorder, blamed on people getting swept up in the moment, and the madness of the crowd. The pogroms were coldly calculated in advance. Really, these were anti-Jewish raids. The marauders were for the most part Slavic militias. These same militias formed the Ukrainian nationalist armies. They fought against Russia, and blamed their Jewish neighbors for remaining loyal.

In 1648, Cossack Bogdan Chmelnitsky led the Cossacks and Ukrainian nationalists in an uprising against Poland. Along the way, they slaughtered tens of thousands of Jewish civilians. In 1918-1919, over twelve hundred pogroms took place in Ukraine. Over a third of those rampages were attributed to the Ukrainian nationalist army. In 1919, soldiers of the Ukrainian independent government, based in Kiev, massacred tens of thousands of Jewish innocents in the Ukraine. The pogromchiks rode into town on horseback, like the forces of Attila the Hun, on a destruction spree. The Jews formed self-defense units in order to fight back.

Anton Deniken was a leader of the Ukrainian nationalist movement. He was an anti-Semite. His army was called the Whites and they were fascists. Deniken's army targeted Jewish civilians with extreme brutality and savagery.

The other leading Ukrainian nationalist of the day was socialist Semyon Petlyura. He was an anti-Semite. Petlyura's forces rampaged through Jewish townships. The victims were not soldiers on the battlefield. These were working people and families, women, children, and the elderly, with little or no connection to politics. Petlyura considered the victims casualties of war. A Jew named Shalom Schwartzbard disagreed. He assassinated Petlyura to avenge his fallen family members, killed in Petlyura's pogroms.

When Nazis invaded Ukraine, they recruited Petlyurists. Three days after the nazi invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainian nationalists murdered six thousand Jewish POWs inside Brygidky prison in Lvov. Ukrainian nationalists declared a holiday called "Petlyura Day." It was celebrated by massacring over five thousand Jewish innocents. In 2009, the Germans traced down Ukrainian nationalist Ivan Demjanjuk. There was a want on him for war crimes and a debt to be paid. He was a commander in the Galician Unit and a guard at the Sobidor death camp. Demjanjuk was accused of personally suffocating Jewish prisoners to death, by pumping carbon monoxide into their showers, as well as murdering German civilians, and leading Ukrainian death squads. They found him in the United States, living under the name John Demjanjuk, in the heart of Cleveland's Ukrainian community, where he reportedly continued to remain active in nationalist circles. He was convicted of crimes against humanity.

Ukraine Follows 'Arab Spring' Scenario – Russian Defense Minister

13:35 01/04/2014

KHUJAND, Tajikistan, April 1 (RIA Novosti) - A scenario similar to the Arab Spring has unfolded in crisis-hit Ukraine during and after the events leading up to the ouster of the country's president in February, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Tuesday.

"With great sorrow, I noted that a scenario similar to the Arab Spring was used in that country," Shoigu said during a meeting with the heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The Arab world was gripped by a wave of revolutions in late 2010 in what became known as the Arab Spring. Regimes were overthrown in Tunisia, Yemen, Libya and Egypt; Bahrain and Syria were engulfed in internal armed conflicts; and a number of countries, including Algeria, Kuwait and Morocco, saw major protests.

The Arab Spring revolutions were initially triggered by economic problems and the public's fatigue of the corruption of ruling authoritarian elites. But the energy of protestors was eventually funneled to new purposes by extremists, resulting in no major advancement of democratic causes.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in September that events in Egypt and Libya showed that "there are countries and whole regions of the world which cannot live according to the pattern of US or European democracy."

Commenting on events in Ukraine, where the new government seized power in February as a result of an illegitimate coup, Shoigu said Russia is posing no threat to Ukraine's statehood.

"The threat to Ukraine's statehood is in a deep domestic political and economic crisis and does not come from Russia," he said adding that "the games by the leadership in Kiev with neo-Nazis and the expansion of Russophobic tendencies may turn into a tragedy not only for Ukraine, but also for all of Europe."

Shoigu said a troubling situation is now brewing in the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine, where "nationalists are attempting to suppress the Russian-speaking population, including by the use of force."

Russia has consistently warned that the new government in Ukraine has a dangerous fascist element of Ukrainian ultranationalism, leading Moscow to take steps to protect ethnic Russians in Ukraine.

Administration of Barack Obama have surprises and shocks for Russians at the anti-Russian sanctions which are directed, first of all, against the United States and don't infringe on the Russian interests.

So, for example, NASA declared the termination of cooperation with Russia according to all projects, except the ISS project. But Russia has no projects joint with NASA, except ISS. Russia itself refuses to acquaint NASA with materials on the Russian-Chinese, Russian-Indian, Russian-Brazilian and Russian-Korean space cooperation. Russia acquainted NASA with old Soviet practices on development of Mars and Venus, on construction of mars rovers and moon rovers. But now NASA refuse the Russian help.

Also affairs are with sanctions of the European Union which punishes itself by own hands! ! ! The old Russian proverb is remembered in this case which is translated into English as: "I will specially freeze the my ears to do much harm to my mother!"

Belarus president calls sanctions total nonsense

MINSK, 4 April (BelTA) – Sanctions are nothing but total nonsense and rubbish. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement as he met with Anatoly Artamonov, Governor of Russia’s Kaluga Oblast, on 4 April, BelTA has learned.

“Sanctions and the rest are total nonsense and rubbish. Nothing but idle talk. The West is not capable of accomplishing anything these days. We should bear it in mind,” said Alexander Lukashenko.

He remarked that Belarus knows what sanctions are all about because the country has lived with sanctions for two decades already. The President went on saying that anyone can understand what Russia is and what the sanctions can evolve into.

According to the Belarus President, the sanctions will help “us focus on domestic problems. They will make us unshakable. It is what the sanctions lead to”. He continued: “Sanctions unite the entire nation around the problems that exist in the country. And you know the nature of Russian people: the more pressure you put on them, the larger the effect will be for the people”.

“So let’s work now in a manner so as to avoid getting reproached later for failing to grab the opportunity,” said the President.

The Ukrainian provisional government has to make immediately the decision on the constitutional reform for the purpose of federalization of Ukraine and refuse physical violence over dissidents. Otherwise the Russian army can stand on border of Kiev region already by the end of this week. The account goes not for days, but for hours.

Russian Foreign Ministry concerned about army build-up in Ukraine's East

8 April 2014, 01:20

The Russian Foreign Ministry is concerned that additional Ukrainian army forces are arriving at the east of Ukraine. Among the army forces there are also representatives from the US Greystone organization, reads the official statement on the Ministry's page in Facebook.

According to the Ministry, additional internal forces and the National Guard of Ukraine with the participation of the illegal armed militants "Praviy Sector" are arriving in the southeastern regions of Ukraine, including Donetsk.

They are designed to suppress protests of the inhabitants of southeast of the country against the policy of the Kiev authorities.

"The fact that there are about 150 American experts from the private military organization Greystone, disguised as soldiers unit Falcon brings additional concern," the statement reads.

The Foreign Ministry also stressed that members of this provocation should take full responsibility for creating a huge threat to the rights, freedoms and lives of innocent citizens of Ukraine, for the stability of the Ukrainian state.

"We call for immediate cease of any military preparations, that could lead to unleashing the civil war" the statement adds.

EU policy towards Ukraine a failure, but Russia determined to continue dialogue – Foreign Ministry

Moscow says that the EU policy towards Ukraine is “short-sighted and a failure” but Russia does not plan to give the dialogue, the commentary of the Department of Press and Information of the Russian Foreign Ministry says in view of a number of statements that were made by the EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton and the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule.

“Judging by statements made by Catherine Ashton and Stefan Fule, Brussels is assessing the Russia-EU consultations about the economic consequences of the Association Membership Agreements (AMA), signed by the European Union with Eastern Partnership countries only as a means to explain their “advantages” for Russia, ruling out all possible corrections of these agreements within the Eastern Partnership Program, which has already discredited itself,” the report of the Foreign Ministry says.

Fule explains the decision on the signing last month of the political part of the Ukraine –EU Association Membership Agreement by the fact that the current Ukrainian “government” should assess all its economic consequences, especially, for eastern Ukraine, and also by the fact that the European Union “needs more time for the continuation of relevant consultations with Russia,” the commentary of the Russian Foreign Ministry says.

Of interest here is the fact that the EU made Viktor Yanukovych and his government responsible for not informing Russia and ordinary Ukrainians about the consequences of the AMA agreement, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said.

Rallies in eastern Ukraine prove its gov't needs to consider federalization - Russian FM

The events in eastern Ukraine prove the need to hold a constitutional reform in the country and to federalize it, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on its website, Interfax reports. "Russia is closely watching the events that are unfolding in the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine, in particular in the Donetsk, Luhansk and Kharkiv regions," the document said.

"As Russia has said repeatedly, it is hard to count on long-term stabilization of the Ukrainian state without a real constitutional reform in Ukraine, in the framework of which the interests of all regions of the country are guaranteed via federalization, its non-aligned status is preserved, and the special role of the Russian language is stipulated," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

A referendum on the future of Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk Oblast should be held no later than May 11, says a resolution that was issued Monday by legislators of the Donetsk regional council, which declared the formation of a sovereign and independent Donetsk People’s Republic and transformed itself in the Council of the Republic earlier on the same day. "The deadline for holding the referendum was coordinated with the Luhansk Oblast and Kharkiv Oblast," a legislator participating in the session said.

Russia will break the neutrality and will start resolute actions after bloodshed of the first drop of blood of Russian-speaking inhabitants of the southeast of Ukraine. John Forbes Kerry, the American Secretary of State, lies when says that the American mercenaries from the private military companies are absent in Ukraine. Some armed citizens of the United States of America are detained and interrogated by rebels in Donetsk. Not less than 150 employees of the American private military company "Blackwater" participate in retaliatory expedition on the southeast of Ukraine.

Inhabitants of Russian-speaking regions of Ukraine lifted mutiny against the government of the Ukrainian nazis and they demand federalization of Ukraine, the right for local government and a right to use the native language in a life and in official document flow. Russia doesn't intend to annex the southeast of Ukraine or other region because of inability of the Russian economy to assume this freight. Huge budgetary financing involves accession of the Crimea to the Russian Federation and it will be strongly felt by economy of all other Russian regions.

CIA's head has come to Ukraine to instruct power agencies - unofficial source

13 April 2014, 13:33

A source in the Ukrainian parliament has told the Russian Interfax news agency that CIA's Director John Brennan has recently visited Ukraine's capital Kiev and had several meetings with representatives of Ukraine's power-wielding agencies.

The person who said this to Interfax in a phone talk added that John Brennan came to Ukraine not under his real name.

According to some yet unconfirmed information, the decision to suppress protesters in Slavyansk, a city in Ukraine's east, with force was advised to Ukraine's authorities by Brennan.

However, Interfax does not have any confirmation from any official sources that this is really so.

Western Looting Of Ukraine Has Begun

By Paul Craig Roberts

It is now apparent that the “Maiden protests” in Kiev were in actuality a Washington organized coup against the elected democratic government. The purpose of the coup is to put NATO military bases on Ukraine’s border with Russia and to impose an IMF austerity program that serves as cover for Western financial interests to loot the country. The sincere idealistic protesters who took to the streets without being paid were the gullible dupes of the plot to destroy their country.

Politically Ukraine is an untenable aggregation of Ukrainian and Russian territory, because traditional Russian territories were stuck into the borders of the Ukraine Soviet Republic by Lenin and Khrushchev. The Crimea, stuck into Ukraine by Khrushchev, has already departed and rejoined Russia. Unless some autonomy is granted to them, Russian areas in eastern and southern Ukraine might also depart and return to Russia. If the animosity displayed toward the Russian speaking population by the stooge government in Kiev continues, more defections to Russia are likely.

The Washington-imposed coup faces other possible difficulties from what seems to be a growing conflict between the well-organized Right Sector and the Washington-imposed stooges. If armed conflict between these two groups were to occur, Washington might conclude that it needs to send help to its stooges. The appearance of US/NATO troops in Ukraine would create pressure on Putin to occupy the remaining Russian speaking parts of Ukraine.

Before the political and geographical issues are settled, the Western looting of Ukraine has already begun. The Western media, doesn’t tell any more truth about IMF “rescue packages” than it does about anything else. The media reports, and many Ukrainians believe, that the IMF is going to rescue Ukraine financially by giving the country billions of dollars.

Ukraine will never see one dollar of the IMF money. What the IMF is going to do is to substitute Ukrainian indebtedness to the IMF for Ukrainian indebtedness to Western banks. The IMF will hand over the money to the Western banks, and the Western banks will reduce Ukraine’s indebtedness by the amount of IMF money. Instead of being indebted to the banks, Ukraine will now be indebted to the IMF.

Now the looting can begin. The IMF loan brings new conditions and imposes austerity on the Ukrainian people so that the Ukraine government can gather up the money with which to repay the IMF. The IMF conditions that will be imposed on the struggling Ukraine population will consist of severe reductions in old-age pensions, in government services, in government employment, and in subsidies for basic consumer purchases such as natural gas. Already low living standards will plummet. In addition, Ukrainian public assets and Ukrainian owned private industries will have to be sold off to Western purchasers.

Additionally, Ukraine will have to float its currency. In a futile effort to protect its currency’s value from being driven very low (and consequently import prices very high) by speculators ganging up on the currency and short-selling it, Ukraine will borrow more money with which to support its currency in the foreign exchange market. Of course, the currency speculators will end up with the borrowed money, leaving Ukraine much deeper in debt than currently.

The corruption involved is legendary, so the direct result of the gullible Maiden protesters will be lower Ukrainian living standards, more corruption, loss of sovereignty over the country’s economic policy, and the transfer of Ukrainian public and private property to Western interests.

If Ukraine also falls into NATO’s clutches, Ukraine will also find itself in a military alliance against Russia and find itself targeted by Russian missiles. This will be a tragedy for Ukraine and Russia as Ukrainians have relatives in Russia and Russians have relatives in Ukraine. The two countries have essentially been one for 200 years. To have them torn apart by Western looting and Washington’s drive for world hegemony is a terrible shame and a great crime.

The gullible dupes who participated in the orchestrated Maiden protests will rue it for the rest of their lives.

When the protests began, I described what the consequences would be and said that I
would explain the looting process. It is not necessary for me to do so. Professor Michel Chossudovsky has explained the IMF looting process along with much history here: http://www.globalresearch.ca/regime-change-in-ukraine-and-the-imfs-bitter-economic-medici ne/5374877

One final word. Despite unequivocal evidence of one country after another being looted by the West, governments of indebted countries continue to sign up for IMF programs. Why do governments of countries continue to agree to the foreign looting of their populations? The only answer is that they are paid. The corruption that is descending upon Ukraine will make the former regime look honest.

Transdniestria asks Russia to initiate independence recognition procedure

16 April 2014, 16:20

The parliament of Transdniestria, a de-facto independent former autonomous republic of Moldova, on Wednesday passed an address to the parliament and president of the Russian Federation to initiate the procedure for the recognition of the republic's independence, the ITAR-TASS news agency reports with reference to the press-service of Transdniestria's Supreme Soviet.

The decision is based on the results of the 2006 republican-wide referendum during which 97 percent of voters supported Transdniestria's independence and its subsequent unification with Russia, the press-service said.

Transdniestria has repeatedly applied for recognition before. This time, its hopes fly high after Crimea returned under Russia's jurisdiction a month ago.

"From a legal point of view, Transdniestria doesn’t differ from Crimea in any way. The process of its reunification with Russia should follow the Crimean scenario," Transdniestrian MP Vyacheslav Tobukh told ITAR-TASS.

A delegation of Transdniestrian lawmakers led by Speaker Mikhail Burla will leave for Moscow on Thursday for talks with Russian State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin.

Next round of talks on Trans-Dniester Region to be held in 10-12 days' time - Lavrov

Russia and the United States have agreed to make efforts towards attaining a goal that is shared by all: to achieve a special status for the Trans-Dniester Region inside a united, sovereign, and neutral Moldova, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated here on Monday at the close of the meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry.

The Minister pointed out that during the meeting the sides had discussed the Trans-Dniester Region issue and «expressed concern, in particular, over the steps being taken by the present Ukrainian leadership, the steps relating to the freedom of travel, the exercise by Transdnistria of its rights, which are sealed in the earlier reached understadings, the carrying out of foreign economic activities, and transit».

Transdniestria seeks Russian law that might allow republic to join Russia - newspaper

The chairman of the Supreme Council in the breakaway republic of Transdniestria, Mikhail Burla, has asked Russian State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin to consider drafting a law that would permit Transdniestria's possible accession to Russia, the Vedomosti newspaper reported on Tuesday.

"This request was forwarded in response to A Just Russia Party's bill that proposes simplifying the procedure for new territories' accession to Russia, which would allow Russia to admit parts of foreign states without these states' consent in the absence of "effective and legitimate leadership" in them on the basis of referendum results or applications submitted by the authorities of these regions," the newspaper, which has a copy of this document, said.

Burla's message also says that the bill drafted by A Just Russia Party permits only Crimea to become part of Russia, but it does not apply to Transdniestria because the authorities of Moldova cannot be described as totally ineffective.

Masochism of G7 leaders again causes stupor, surprise and incomprehension of Russian political and economic elites . New anti-Russian sanctions hit , primarily on the economy of same countries. Russia has differentiated its external economic relations over the past five years. If German business leaves the Russian economic space , the South Korean business is immediately ready to fill the vacancy . If the British businessmen refuse contracts in Russia, Japanese businessmen are ready to continue these contracts. China consistently forces out the American business from Russia. Recently Samsung achieved the historical decision of the government of Russia on refusal of the Russian state structures from all production of Apple. And such examples set...

The countries strongly dependent on supply of the Russian natural gas have to collect a monthly stock of natural gas in their storages. The Russian-Ukrainian gas conflict and the intra Ukrainian civil conflict can affect stability of transit of natural gas through Ukraine. Only commissioning of South Stream will provide stability of supply of the Russian natural gas to Europe. Anyway Russia will seek for implementation of the obligations for supply of natural gas in full.
