C.I.A. Said to Aid in Steering Arms to Syrian Opposition

Published: June 21, 2012

By ERIC SCHMITT

WASHINGTON — A small number of C.I.A. officers are operating secretly in southern Turkey, helping allies decide which Syrian opposition fighters across the border will receive arms to fight the Syrian government, according to American officials and Arab intelligence officers.

The weapons, including automatic rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, ammunition and some antitank weapons, are being funneled mostly across the Turkish border by way of a shadowy network of intermediaries including Syria’s Muslim Brotherhood and paid for by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the officials said.

The C.I.A. officers have been in southern Turkey for several weeks, in part to help keep weapons out of the hands of fighters allied with Al Qaeda or other terrorist groups, one senior American official said. The Obama administration has said it is not providing arms to the rebels, but it has also acknowledged that Syria’s neighbors would do so.

The clandestine intelligence-gathering effort is the most detailed known instance of the limited American support for the military campaign against the Syrian government. It is also part of Washington’s attempt to increase the pressure on President Bashar al-Assad of Syria, who has recently escalated his government’s deadly crackdown on civilians and the militias battling his rule. With Russia blocking more aggressive steps against the Assad government, the United States and its allies have instead turned to diplomacy and aiding allied efforts to arm the rebels to force Mr. Assad from power.

By helping to vet rebel groups, American intelligence operatives in Turkey hope to learn more about a growing, changing opposition network inside of Syria and to establish new ties. “C.I.A. officers are there and they are trying to make new sources and recruit people,” said one Arab intelligence official who is briefed regularly by American counterparts.

American officials and retired C.I.A. officials said the administration was also weighing additional assistance to rebels, like providing satellite imagery and other detailed intelligence on Syrian troop locations and movements. The administration is also considering whether to help the opposition set up a rudimentary intelligence service. But no decisions have been made on those measures or even more aggressive steps, like sending C.I.A. officers into Syria itself, they said.

The struggle inside Syria has the potential to intensify significantly in coming months as powerful new weapons are flowing to both the Syrian government and opposition fighters. President Obama and his top aides are seeking to pressure Russia to curb arms shipments like attack helicopters to Syria, its main ally in the Middle East.

“We’d like to see arms sales to the Assad regime come to an end, because we believe they’ve demonstrated that they will only use their military against their own civilian population,” Benjamin J. Rhodes, deputy national security adviser for strategic communications, said after Mr. Obama and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir V. Putin, met in Mexico on Monday.

Spokesmen for the White House, State Department and C.I.A. would not comment on any intelligence operations supporting the Syrian rebels, some details of which were reported last week by The Wall Street Journal.

Until now, the public face of the administration’s Syria policy has largely been diplomacy and humanitarian aid.

The State Department said Wednesday that Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton would meet with her Russian counterpart, Sergey V. Lavrov, on the sidelines of a meeting of Asia-Pacific foreign ministers in St. Petersburg, Russia, next Thursday. The private talks are likely to focus, at least in part, on the crisis in Syria.

The State Department has authorized $15 million in nonlethal aid, like medical supplies and communications equipment, to civilian opposition groups in Syria.

The Pentagon continues to fine-tune a range of military options, after a request from Mr. Obama in early March for such contingency planning. Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told senators at that time that the options under review included humanitarian airlifts, aerial surveillance of the Syrian military, and the establishment of a no-fly zone.

The military has also drawn up plans for how coalition troops would secure Syria’s sizable stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons if an all-out civil war threatened their security.

But senior administration officials have underscored in recent days that they are not actively considering military options. “Anything at this point vis-à-vis Syria would be hypothetical in the extreme,” General Dempsey told reporters this month.

What has changed since March is an influx of weapons and ammunition to the rebels. The increasingly fierce air and artillery assaults by the government are intended to counter improved coordination, tactics and weaponry among the opposition forces, according to members of the Syrian National Council and other activists.

Last month, these activists said, Turkish Army vehicles delivered antitank weaponry to the border, where it was then smuggled into Syria. Turkey has repeatedly denied it was extending anything other than humanitarian aid to the opposition, mostly via refugee camps near the border. The United States, these activists said, was consulted about these weapons transfers.

American military analysts offered mixed opinions on whether these arms have offset the advantages held by the militarily superior Syrian Army. “The rebels are starting to crack the code on how to take out tanks,” said Joseph Holliday, a former United States Army intelligence officer in Afghanistan who is now a researcher tracking the Free Syrian Army for the Institute for the Study of War in Washington.

But a senior American officer who receives classified intelligence reports from the region, compared the rebels’ arms to “peashooters” against the government’s heavy weaponry and attack helicopters.

The Syrian National Council, the main opposition group in exile, has recently begun trying to organize the scattered, localized units that all fight under the name of the Free Syrian Army into a more cohesive force.

About 10 military coordinating councils in provinces across the country are now sharing tactics and other information. The city of Homs is the notable exception. It lacks such a council because the three main military groups in the city do not get along, national council officials said.

Jeffrey White, a defense analyst at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy who tracks videos and announcements from self-described rebel battalions, said there were now about 100 rebel formations, up from roughly 70 two months ago, ranging in size from a handful of fighters to a couple of hundred combatants.

“When the regime wants to go someplace and puts the right package of forces together, it can do it,” Mr. White said. “But the opposition is raising the cost of those kinds of operations.”

CIA Picks Its Syrian Chalabi?

Posted   on June 20, 2012

by Daniel McAdams

...a "moderate Kurd from Uppsala, Sweden."

How multi-culti!

But he holds all the right positions:

"Sieda has publicly repeated most of the positions the council has become known for: do not negotiate with Assad, continue to request foreign intervention through the establishment of a no-fly zone and a humanitarian corridor to ultimately unseat Assad..."

Also helpful in spook-chosen leaders, "Sieda is an independent and does not represent any single party or political interest on the 300-member council."

The same Washington that shrieks back in horror when the government of a foreign country chosen for regime-change fights off a foreign-sponsored invasion force, would fill a thousand Guantanamos with "terrorists" should a foreign-funded (or purely domestic) force attempt to overthrow the US government.

Oh but the Syrian government is "illegitimate" because it uses force against its own people! Perhaps, but in the era of NDAA-sanctioned indefinite detention of Americans and "kill lists" has no one noticed the proverbial elephant in the living room? It doesn't happen here? Ask innocent 16 year old American citizen Abdulrahman al-Awlaki. Oh, that's right, you can't. Obama murdered him by drone without trial or charge because his dad happened to be a "bad guy."

Sadly, in our day of role reversal where the US has become the force for Global Revolution and the export of political systems by force, it is again the Russians who make the most sense. Perhaps they have actually learned from the mistakes of their own history. At the G-20 Summit in Mexico yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin refuted the lies of British poodle David Cameron, who claimed that Putin had gotten behind Syrian regime change, and stated what should be the cornerstone of US foreign policy: No state can decide another's government. Let us not put too much faith in the Russians, as all governments are first in the business of self-preservation. But we can at least draw some momentary satisfaction in this stand for non-interventionism.

Meanwhile let's keep an eye on Abdulbaset Sieda, possibly the Syrian Chalabi.

BREAKING: "Private Security Companies" in Syria, Supporting Rebels: Foreign Mercenaries Detained

Global Research, June 20, 2012

by Christoph R. Horstel

Syria: As fighting continues foreign detainees may reach center stage (Op-Ed)

While insurgents try to recapture at least some of the areas lost in the last week and make it to the outskirts of towns in western Syria, more details on foreign detainees come to light, which may start political discussions back home.

Consultant and peace activist Christoph R. Horstel told RT that his information “is directly obtained from Syrian security personnel of various origins personally taking part in battles and other operations, and/or close relatives of such personnel – some are even well-known people".

“The information reaches me through a partner in Turkey. I counter-check all information obtained this way as best as possible under the circumstances,” Hörstel said.

Insurgents and terrorists are trying to infiltrate back to the lost strongholds in Hafeh and Idlib. They try to return from the rural areas, but face strong army resistance in these areas, plus in Homs and Hama. As the rebels lost most of their weapon stockpiles, they intend now to carry out terror attacks in civilian areas, using improvised bombs.

On the other hand, especially in Hafeh, it is understood that the insurgents are not capable of invading towns and town centers, even not in smaller villages. The only safe haven for the fighters seems to be right now Idlib's rural surroundings and forested stretches, reaching into the terror camps in neighboring Turkey.

Military deployment and logistic support operations are going on around town centers, rural villages close to cities are being shelled by the army, as soon as the presence of insurgents is verified.

After the capture of an ex-Guantanamo detainee in Homs as an alleged terror network mastermind, Syrian security is now researching this subject in-depth. In future, Syria may take some of these foreign elements to be dealt with in court under live TV coverage.

Sources say at least 200-300 private security company employees are captured beside hundreds of foreign military and service personnel during the last 14 months of foreign terror provocation. Among them are Portuguese nationals, who are paratroopers – and about whom Syria is asking itself how they entered the country. During interrogation they claimed to have retired from army duty, which somehow contradicts in some cases how old they look. Sources add, that some of those foreign officials somehow settled in the region at least months before they started their terror campaign.

Also 40-60 Germans are in Syrian custody, said the officials. According to these sources, the Germans were caught red-handed on the Syrian coastline as they were smuggling weapons supplies for the insurgents into Syria.

Syrian security personnel have changed their detention strategies as well, concentrating foreign nationals in a high-security environment in Damascus.

Syrian sources are irritated about the so-called international mainstream media. These officials go so far as to raise vigilance prior to important international gatherings discussing the Syrian issue, anticipating further false flag operations to discredit the Syrian government.

Four Terrorists from al-Treimseh: Gunmen Were Ordered to Spread Across the Town Before Army Forces Entered It

Jul 13, 2012

HAMA, SANA - Four members of the terrorist groups that were active in the town of al-Treimseh said that the terrorists – who included non-Syrians of Arab nationalities –   spread across the town before the army entered it, and that this was based on orders they received to attack law-enforcement forces and prevent civilians from going to work.

up_immagini/sana065.jpg

In confessions televised by the Syrian TV, terrorist Hikmat Shihadeh al-Mustafa al-Younes, a local of al-Treimseh, said that he joined a group of 16 gunmen led by Manhal   Darwish, and that they gathered in town along with around 250 gunmen.

He said that orders were given to them to attack law-enforcement forces checkpoint, preventing state employees from going to work, and forcing people to strike, but they were surprised when security forces arrived and they were ordered to prevent them from entering the town and fighting them.

Al-Younes said that he and his cohorts had assorted weapons including automatic rifles, sniper rifles, RPG launchers, and hand grenades, and that snipers were stationed on rooftops.

He said that the leader of his group was killed along with many gunmen in the clash with security forces, which lasted about an hour and a half, which is why he turned himself over when security forces instructed them to surrender via loudspeakers.

For his part, terrorist Sa'ed Darwsih, another local and a policeman, said that while he was spending vacation time in his home, several gunmen including a man called Saleh al-Sabaoui came and threatened to kill him and all his family if he returns to work, and they coerced him into joining them.

Darwish said the gunmen had been gathering in town for around 20 days, and that their numbers were between 250 and 300 and that they had planned to attack law-enfrocemtn checkpoints, block roads and impose a state of strike by force.

He said that on Thursday, they heard that the army was encircling the town, so they tried to escape but couldn't, and then they received orders to attack the army and several of the gunmen died in the ensuing conflict while others were arrested, including Darwish.

Darwish confirmed that the terrorists had RPG launchers, machineguns, snipers, automatic rifles and explosive devices, adding that the leaders of the armed groups received money from Turkey and that there were Turks and Libyans among the ranks of these groups.

In turn, terrorist Rami Abdelsalam al-Darwish said that he was offered money to join an armed group led by Saleh al-Saba'awi a month ago, and that the al-Treimseh was crawling with more than 300 terrorists from out of town, including Libyan gunmen and one Turkish officer.

He said that a man from Jabal al-Zawiye area called Abu Talhat brought them money and weapons from Turkey, and that the weapons included machineguns, automatic rifles, RPG launchers, grenades, explosive devices and more.

He recounted how the army forces surrounded the town after the terrorists gathered in it, and how Abu Talhat ordered them to attack them, which resulted in al-Darwish's arrest.

Similarly, terrorist Mohammad Sattouf, born in al-Treimseh in 1986, said that he was in charge of fabricating videos of protests and uploading them to Youtube.

Sattouf said the armed groups gathered in town 20 day ago to attack law-enforcement forces and ransack and burn government establishment, and that several attacks were carried out against law-enforcement checkpoints using car bombs, in addition to planting explosives on roads.

He said that the armed groups were ordered to engage the army forces and they followed those orders, with the clash continuing for around 90 minutes, during which Issa al-Ibrahim, the leader of Mohammad al-Fateh battalion which leads these groups, was killed.

Sattouf corroborate other terrorists' testimonies that the gunmen who were in al-Treimseh numbered somewhere between 250 and 300, and that they were armed with various light and medium weapons including machineguns, rifles, sniper rifles, RPG launchers, hand grenades, and explosive charges which were made in a workshop set up in the town itself.

He said that a man referred to as Abu al-Zahra'a came to him with an altered video of al-Qbeir massacre which he filmed after he and his group committed the massacre, and that Abu al-Zahra'a forced Sattouf's cousin Mufid Alloush at gunpoint to upload the   altered video to al-Jazeera using the latter's satellite internet connection.

Jul 13, 2012

HAMA COUNTRYSIDE, SANA - A military source on Friday stated that some of the armed forces units on Thursday morning carried out a "qualitative operation" in al-Treimseh town in the countryside of Hama province that targeted the gatherings of terrorist groups' members as well as a number of their leadership's whereabouts and dens which they used as a springboard for their criminal acts and a base for torturing kidnapped citizens.

The operation, the source said, came in response to the pleads of the inhabitants of al-Treimseh town who had been exposed to various forms of criminal acts at the hands of armed terrorist groups including acts of killing and terrorizing in addition to exploding a number of houses.

The operation was carried out after a process of monitoring and accurate information gathering in cooperation with the residents, the source added.

up_immagini/1_sana069.jpg

The source said that after the armed forces successfully dealt with the terrorists without casualties taking place among the citizens, they searched into the terrorists' dens where they found the dead bodies of a number of citizens who had been abducted and killed by the terrorist groups.

up_immagini/sana070.jpg

The source stressed the armed forces' full preparedness and permanent readiness to intervene to protect the citizens and confront the terrorists and their criminal acts against the safe citizens wherever necessary.

It also expressed the forces' thanks to the residents who cooperated with the authorities in specifying the terrorists' whereabouts and thus contributed to restoring security and safety to the area.

Three Terrorists from al-Treimseh Confess to Taking Part in Murder, Terrorism and Abduction

Jul 15, 2012

HAMA COUNTRYSIDE, SANA – Two terrorists from the town of al-Treimseh in Hama countryside confessed to taking part in a series of murders and acts of terrorism before the army entered the town, while a third terrorist admitted to participating in abducting citizens to demand ransom and killing them afterwards.

In confessions broadcast by the Syrian TV on Saturday, terrorist Yousef Abdullah al-Mahmoud said that he was recruited by force along with his brother into the armed group led by Saleh al-Saba'awi.

Al-Mahmoud said that he and his brother accompanied al-Saba'awi and six other men attacked two houses, with him breaking one of the houses' doors and shooting at the roof, noting that he stayed outside with his brother upon al-Saba'awi's orders while the rest entered the house and shot everyone inside, saying that he only saw a man and a woman but that there were more people inside.

He went on to say that they broke into the second house, with him staying outside like the first time and firing at the house, and the rest of the group entered the house and killed anyone inside.

In turn, terrorist Ahmad Abdullah al-Mahmoud, the aforementioned brother, corroborated his brother Yousef's story, adding that al-Saba'awi told them that the houses contained army personnel, when in truth there were only civilian men and women who were shot dead by the terrorists.

For his part, terrorist Zaher al-Tayeh said that he took part in the abduction of a man from al-Safsafiye village along with two others, hijacking the man's car and then interrogating him in an olive field before slitting his throat with a knife.

Al-Tayeh also confessed to abducting two others; one from al-Safsafiye and the other from the village of Khneizir, saying that they demanded a ransom of SYP 400,000 for the first one and 200,000 for the second, but their demands weren't met so one of the abductors, a man killed Hussein Dabbas, slit the victims' throats as al-Tayeh watched.

Syria: the real situation

19.07.2012

Letter from First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the Arab Republic of Syria, Walid Al Moallem, to Kofi Anan, UN Special Envoy. In this letter, the truth about Syria is explained, a truth that is radically different from the nonsense fueling the FUKUS* Axis' belligerence.

Mr. Kofi Anan
UN Special Envoy

Dear Sir,

I read your letter, dated 13/07/2012, addressed to the Secretary General of the United Nations, in which you refer to the tragic reports from the village of Al Tremseh, near Hama and the use of guns, tanks and helicopters by part of the Syrian Government. I regret that you should have based your position on a single source of information and one which is inaccurate.

I hoped you would verify reports from the Syrian Government before adopting them, so you could see the truth of the facts, noting that once we attended to the request of the observer mission to visit Al Tremseh the visit was, in fact, held on a date set by them, on 14/07/2012. What happened in the village of Al Tremseh near Hama, is that dozens of members of armed terrorist groups invaded the village and settled there, terrorizing the civilian residents and creating a command headquarters, weapons depots and places of torture of hostages, attacking more than one point of the security forces concentrated on the outskirts of the village, which required a response from the security forces at 5:00 in the morning of Thursday, 12/07/2012.

These attacks remained for some hours, but government forces did not use planes or helicopters or tanks or guns, but entered the town under the protection of military transport cars like BMB and used small arms, as defined by the Initial Understanding signed between Syria and the United Nations. During the clashes, only five houses were damaged in the village who were used as headquarters of the armed terrorist groups, as there were found large quantities of arms, ammunition and explosive devices.

I say to you that government forces committed no massacre, as announced by the press, but armed groups brought with them some of the bodies of their dead and claimed that the Syrian army launched a massacre against civilians, a fact that I strongly deny.

I find it very strange your silence about the daily violations committed by armed terrorist groups, which have already exceeded ten thousand and five hundred violations from 12/04/2012 to date. Honestly, there was no mention about it in your statements or reports to the Security Council. The adoption of non-credible sources of information affects your mission and serves only the interests of those seeking the failure of this mission, the same time that Syria cares for the success of your mission and reaffirms the commitment of the Government of Syria to the Six-Point Plan and the Initial Understanding signed on 19.4.2012, as well as the understanding which occurred between yourself and the President Bashar Al Assad, during your last visit to Damascus and Syria expects further progress in implementing this agreement to stop the violence and start the political process.
Please accept my compliments and I ask that a copy of my letter is sent to the UN Secretary General and the President of the Security Council.

Iran isn't involved in death of the Israeli tourists, as well as Iran wasn't involved in the previous acts of terrorism near the Israeli diplomatic missions. Traces from two monstrous acts of terrorism which have happened yesterday, go to Qatar. The small spiteful dwarf wishes to direct fair anger of Israelis for achievement of its purposes.

The terrorism has no justifications. Meanwhile, the most part of leaders of the countries of the World, looking back at their American boss, welcome acts of terrorism in Damascus, instead of condemnation of acts of terrorism worldwide. The genie of the terrorism is out of the bottle, won't be limited only to Syria. Terrorist explosions of bombs will rattle worldwide soon. British weren't rather diligent for creation of a green zone in London. Meanwhile, some terrorist groups intend to use the Olympic capital as a field of terrorist activity. Today the "democratic" and "free" press of the West applauds terrorists in the Middle East. But what they will speak tomorrow when terrorists will do the turn encore in the cities of Europe?

The Lord doesn't intend to suffer blood-thirsty crafts of Americans. From now on any tragic event which has occurred in the world because of the United States, will have a dissymetric event, with not less tragic consequences, in the United States. Such is God's Will.

NATO death squads involved in Syria bombing: American author

Thu Jul 19, 2012 8:10AM GMT

An American author and historian says the “NATO death squads” were involved in the deadly July 18 bombing in the Syrian capital that targeted senior officials, Press TV reports.

“We see the pro-NATO forces, the NATO death squads delivering on that,” said Dr. Webster Griffin Tarpley, referring to the Wednesday bomb attack on the headquarters of the National Security Bureau in Damascus that killed Syrian Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Assef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani.

I would stress the role of NATO and indeed of the CIA because we know the press today here, the Wall Street Journal reminds us that the CIA is running communications, coordination… for the Free Syrian Army, for the death squads,” Tarpley stated in an interview with Press TV on Wednesday.

Syrian Interior Minister Mohammad Ibrahim al-Sha’ar and National Security Bureau chief Hisham Bikhtiyar were also wounded in the bomb attack.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad appointed General Fahd al-Jassem al-Freij as the new defense minister immediately after the incident.

The terrorist Free Syrian Army (FSA) claimed responsibility for the Wednesday bombing and said the attack was the “first in a series.”

Tarpley also stated that “an operation of this complexity would be very hard for even al-Qaeda fighters to do. They have got to be essentially guided by maybe French or British or US Special Forces officers.”

Syria: The cemetery of western credibility

23.07.2012

The West is backing Jabhat Al Nosrah, the al-Qaida branch in Syria. After Libya, only an idiot would believe a word iterated by the west and particularly, the FUKUS Axis (France, UK, US), which backed a terrorist group on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's own list of proscribed factions. As the west and its terrorists grow desperate, read on and see what they are planning. First stop: False Flag event at the Olympics?

The repulsive filth we saw in Libya, slicing the breasts off women, murdering, torching buildings, torturing, raping, looting, committing ethnic cleansing is the political epitaph of Obama, Clinton, Cameron, Hague, Sarkozy and Juppé, the FUKUS Axis. The lawsuit has been launched (*), not yet taken up, but that matters not. The lack of action only underlines the lack of credibility as international law is insulted and not applied. The "West", ladies and gentlemen, is one evil clique of demonic savages, believe me.

This murderous filth is back, in Syria, joining up with the traitors and dregs of Syrian society wanting to make a fast buck by supporting these western hypocrites, implementing a west-friendly government as yet another Arab nation is humiliated and destroyed, as it is used either for its resources or for its strategic importance. In the case of Syria, it is not a question of freedom and democracy - it is a question of depriving Russia of its Mediterranean base and it is a stepping-stone towards the forthcoming attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran. Central Asia follows. Then Siberia. After Amazonia.

The villain in the story is not President Assad or his Government, backed by the majority of the Syrian people - he and they are desperately trying to defend themselves from terrorists, armed by the FUKUS-GCC Axis (France, UK, US and the Gulf Cooperation Council, cowardly Arab traitor states insulting Islam with their murderous collaboration and treachery).

The villain is the FUKUS-GCC Axis, a temple of evil, cynicism and an insult to the international community, a cabal of murderers, terrorist-lovers and terrorists with zero respect for international law and zero credibility. Chapter one was Iraq, Chapter two was Libya, Chapter three is Syria.

However, the nearer to the main target (Iran) the FUKUS-GCC gets, the more obvious it becomes that their demonic plan is doomed to failure and the nearer their leaders are to a prison cell. A day will come when they dare not step off an aeroplane overseas, the day will come when there is a knock on their doors at seven o'clock in the morning and they are carted off to a courtroom. The citizens of the world are seven billion; they are a handful of murderers.

Much is made in the western media about a few border checkpoints being controlled by terrorists. How many border checkpoints does Syria have with its neighbours Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Turkey and Iraq? And, the question is posed, what are neighbours Jordan and Turkey doing harbouring terrorists and sending terrorist forces into a sovereign state?

Turkey already ran snivelling to its paymaster, the USA, after it got its nose bloodied when its aircraft illegally invaded Syrian airspace; one wonders what Jordan would do if Syria taught it a lesson in international relations by giving it what it deserves. One postulates it would go snivelling to Britain.

As I write this piece, intelligence reports point towards 60,000 terrorists massing on the southern frontier in Jordan, a country which allegedly sent 10,000 terrorists to Damascus. The filth we saw in Libya was also involved - these "freedom fighters" are by no means all Syrians, which means they are not freedom fighters at all. The heroic Syrian Armed Forces are fighting back - 4,000 of this terrorist scourge were exterminated in one day as they tried to seize civilian areas of the capital. Today this excrement is being cleansed from Syria's cities as the Syrian Armed Forces go on a full-scale offensive against the enemies of the State.

Another column of terrorists travelling northwards from Jordan on ratmobiles (trucks with AA guns rigged up on the back) was liquidated. So what is Jordan doing? Answer: Supporting terrorists.

What next? FUKUS-GCC-terrorist plans for phase 2

Phase One has been won by Syria. The Syrian Armed Forces are strong, they are resolute, and a tiny fraction of them have defected to the enemies of Syria. The population is massively behind the President. The western-backed terrorists are Jabhat Al Nosrah, the al-Qaida branch in Syria.

Now they are losing, what will they do next?

Terrorist Plan One: One plan which was tried in Libya is to block Syrian communication channels and broadcast false news from a studio controlled by the FUKUS-GCC Axis. The Syrian TV anchor Mohammed Saied has been kidnapped. Will he be tortured or threatened into broadcasting false news? Will Syrian channels be removed from Nilesat and Arabsat? Will a fake square be shown on al-Arabiyah and al-Jazeera as was the case in Libya, masking the fact that foreign special forces stormed the capital (against international law)?

Terrorist Plan Two: Civilians captured by terrorists are about to be used in a false flag event in Syria. Al-Jazeera is apparently stating that a new massacre is about to happen. What news station says a massacre is about to happen? Unless it knows something others don't. Al-Jazeera = al-Qaida?? = Washington = same thing?

Terrorist Plan Three: False news about terrorist victories in Syria's main cities, when the reality is that the Syrian Armed Forces have the situation under control. The western-backed terrorist filth is being liquidated and the areas this vermin is infesting are being sterilised.

Terrorist Plan Four: A false broadcast by President Assad, his voice imitated, saying he has left Syria. False images of massive numbers of defections, false resignations from the Syrian Government. Blocking Syria TV, Addounia and Al Akhbariah Souriah, calling for international intervention because the Government has collapsed. The same thing was done in Libya, in the Green Square sham, exposed in this column and exposed here in this communication (**)

Terrorist Plan Five: Using Chemical weapons to create a false flag event at the London Olympics. Those who are speaking about this plan state that it is not only the terrorists, but their masters, who plan this event. The idea is to use the chemical weapons and then say the Syrian Government has lost control, thereby justifying an invasion. After Iraq, after Libya, would anyone be surprised at anything Washington, London or Paris did?

"We like walking along the edge of Abyss, but if we ever fall it would be over the dead body of our enemy." - Hafez Al Assad

Syria: Syrians, Iraqis, Palestinians: No Place to Hide

July 25, 2012

by Felicity Arbuthnot

"A person can only be born in one place. However, he may die several times elsewhere:   in the exiles and prisons, and in a homeland trnsformed by occupation and oppression into a nightmare."
(2004 Acceptance speech for the Prince Klaus Fund Award, Mahmoud Darwish, 1941-2008)

Syria's citizens are now another nation reduced to tragic turmoil resultant from being targeted in the post September 11th 2001 Pentagon plan to "take out seven countries in five years: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and finishing off with Iran," as described by General Wesley Clark. (i)

US planned carnage in sovereign Syria was a bit behind schedule, but now back on track, if out of predicted sequence, with another wannabe Crusader in the White House, this one with a Nobel Peace Prize. Fact mirrors fiction's wildest darknesses, and from the "Nile to the Euphrates" the regions's residents increasingly have only the most uncertain and tenuous places to hide.

Syria, with a population of under twenty-three million, is also host to nearly half a million Palestinian refugees and the largest influx of Iraqi refugees in the world, a minimum of 1.2 million, who fled the US-UK's liberating bombs, bullets, kidnappings, rapes, murders, ethnic cleansing, looting and mayhem.

The UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) record, "Syria has been a generous host to Iraqi refugees."

Now the horrors they fled after the invasion are again stalking those who thought they were now safe:

"Iraqis with old vendettas have taken advantage of the chaos and instability in Syria to pursue Iraqi refugees there, with a string of kidnappings in recent months," records UNHCR.(ii)

One young woman, who had survived the unimaginable, said she feared being hunted down in Syria by the same people who killed nine members of her family at the height of sectarian warfare in Iraq in 2006-7.

Another family who had already lost one member in Iraq before fleeing to Syria recently had their son "kidnapped, tortured and killed, despite paying a ransom."

A short time ago, seven members of an Iraqi family were found dead in their Damascus apartment according to the U.N., recording three other refugees killed by gunfire. Two Iraqi journalists were killed in Damascus this month in circumstances that remain unclear. (Los Angeles Times, 20th July 2012)

Three hundred Palestinians are already thought to have been killed, again mirroring their plight in Iraq when the 2003 onslaught and the ignorance   or willfulness of those who planned it from far away, destroyed the entire societal fabric of the nation. "As for Arab media, they should know well that their insistence on representing Palestinians as a relevant party in the bloodshed in Syria equals to setting them up for a major disaster, to say the least," writes Palestine Chronicle Editor, Ramzy Baroud. (iii)

"It is a gruesome turn for the distinguished Middle Eastern city of Damascus, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world ..." comments the Jordan Times (the 23rd of July 2012). "The people of Damascus are not used to wars, there were real fears in Damascus last week," a resident told them.

Meanwhile an Iraqi friend with impeccable knowledge states, "Iraqi refugees in Syria are facing a real dilemma."

Last week Prime Minister Nuri al Maliki called for Iraqi refugees to return to their country and formed a team headed by the Transportation Minister to facilitate travel and re-entry at land borders, to date having also sent ten aircraft to transport them.

Finally a hand of reconciliation from America's murderously sectarian puppet Prime Minister? Not quite states my Iraq-wise sage. It is as ever, more murderously complex than that:

"Tens if not hundreds of Iraqi refugees in Damascus got killed and injured during the clash between the (Syrian Free Army) and the Government Army in Kudsyah, Yermuk, and Sayedah Zainab areas. Some of them were mugged during their escape from one area to another, trying to save their children's lives.

"While the Iraqi government announced their concerns about Iraqi refugees, they actually meant their (own) followers and militias in Sayeda Zainab in Damascus.

"They are asking Iraqi refugees in Syria to go back to Iraq. At the same time, they increased their security personnel and are fully prepared at the Al Waleed checkpoint between Syria and Iraq to triple check the passports in a serious search for previous Iraqi Army generals and other prominent anti-occupation figures to arrest them on the spot when they enter Iraq." (emphasis mine)

"That is if they survive the (Syrian Free Army) check points.   After shutting Syria's neighbouring countries' borders off in the face of Iraqi refugees from Syria, most of the refugees are heading to Iraqi Kurdistan through Yaaroubia checkpoint instead of going back to Baghdad.

"Whilst not knowing what are they facing in that region, this choice seems better than   Maliki's secret prisons or receiving a bullet in head before settling down in their homes in Baghdad.   It looks like UN refugees' organizations left the American occupation victims to face their terrible destiny again: Running away to the unknown, with their children suffering a new episode of fear ..."

Fear indeed for what my kidnapped and murdered friend, Margaret Hassan, who worked so fearlessly and tirelessly to alleviate their suffering, rightly predicted would be "another lost generation of Iraqi children."

"Iraq ... is still one of the most dangerous places in the world," stated IRIN, the news service of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, in April this year.

Another UN Report states: "UNHCR does not consider the security situation in Iraq adequate to facilitate or promote returns."

Between Sunday and Monday, the 22nd and 23rd of July, one hundred and forty-six Iraqis were killed and hundreds injured in bomb attacks across the country.

Suicide bombings were unknown in Iraq until 2003, with car bombings nearly so, with the exception of a few of the latter in the late 1990's, widely agreed by various intelligence sources to be linked to the Iraqi National Accord (INA) which received backing from countries including the UK, Saudia Arabia, and the United States. (iv)

In 2004, INC founder Iyad Allawi - reportedly under pressure from the US and with objections by the UN Special Envoy to Iraq Lakhdar Brahimi - became Iraq's interim Prime Minister. Undisputed is that Brahimi resigned two weeks later.

Short of a miracle, Syria is set to follow another bloody US guided path: "Gangs and thieves (are) attacking cars and commercial centers the way we have seen in Baghdad during the invasion of . It seems like another beautiful country is going to be wasted (God forbid). Christians and Armenians are terrified," adds my friend, who has family there, saying desperately:

"I don't know how can I help them. They won't leave because their children are in schools and universities and they can't see them going through the agony of leaving another country which felt like home after seven or eight years."

Meanwhile, for those returning to Iraqi Kurdistan, it is widely reported that British Commandos have been given permission by the Iranian born warlord for all seasons and current President of Kurdistan, Massoud Barzani, to train insurgents there to infiltrate and fight in Syria. (eg vi)

Further, the US has declared that President Bashar al Assad's sovereign government must be toppled. (vii)

Ramzy Baroud, who has nothing to learn on either regional complexities, or displacement (viii) writes:

"There is nothing worse than being a refugee on the run, except being a refugee on the run again and again, with a legal status of perpetual statelessness, and with no country in which to seek shelter."

That is surely not the: "Change we can believe in," promised by the Presidential Nobel Peace Laureate currently running for re-election.

Turkey Sets up Secret Base with Qatar and Saudi Arabia to Lead Aid to Armed Groups in Syria

Jul 28, 2012

DOHA, SANA - Gulf sources reveled that Turkey has set up a secret base in cooperation with Saudi Arabia and Qatar "to direct vital military and communications aid" to the armed terrorist groups in Syria from Adana city near the border.

A Doha-based source told Reuters that the Turks are militarily running the secret base which was called 'nerve center'. "It's the Turks who are militarily controlling it. Turkey is the main co-ordinator/facilitator. Think of a triangle, with Turkey at the top and Saudi Arabia and Qatar at the bottom."

The source said that the U.S. intelligence are involved in this "through middlemen. Middlemen are controlling access to weapons and routes."

The source added that the centre in the city of Adana, which is located in southern Turkey about 100 km (60 miles) from the Syrian border, was set up after Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah al-Saud visited Turkey and requested it.

"The Turks liked the idea of having the base in Adana so that they could supervise its operations," the source was cited as saying.

It identified three governments that are supplying weapons: Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

"The Turks have been desperate to improve their weak surveillance, and have been begging Washington for drones and surveillance," the source added, noting that the pleas seemed to have failed, "so they have hired some private guys come do the job."

Although Turkey has denied involvement in the terrorist bombing which targeted the National Security building in Damascus, Reuters said, two former senior U.S. security officials said that "Turkey has been playing an increasing role in sheltering and training Syrian rebels who have crossed into its territory," and has stepped up support for the armed groups after the Syrian air defenses shot down a Turkish plane which had made several passes over border areas in violation of the Syrian airspace.

Sources in Doha told Reuters that Qatar is playing a main role in running the operations of the Adana base as Qatari officials are providing training and supplies to the armed groups in Syria.

The Qataris mobilized their special forces team two weeks ago. Their remit is to train and help logistically," said a Doha-based source, adding that Qatar's military intelligence directorate, Foreign Ministry and State Security Bureau are involved.

CNN: 30 Libyan Gunmen Fighting in Syria

Jul 28, 2012

WASHINGTON, SANA - U.S. News Network CNN revealed that more than 30 Libyan gunmen moved to Syria to support the so-called free Syrian army.

"More than 30 Libyan fighters have made their way into Syria to support the 'Free Syrian Army' rebels in their war," the network cited in a report on Saturday.

The network said that those gunmen entered the Syrian lands and are fighting in several territories, headed by 'Al-Mahdi al-Harati' who was one of the most important leaders, as the network described him, among the Libyan armed groups.

The network highlighted that al-Harati, who commanded the so-called 'Tripoli Revolutionary brigade' has been in Syria for months leading some of his former men and Syrian gunmen who have joined his "Liwaa al-Umma" or "The Banner of the Nation" brigade.

The CNN report came after dozens of media reports stressing that some sides are arming and funding armed terrorist groups from different nationalities which targeted Syrian soldiers and civilians and attacked private and public properties.

The Syrian army is at war not with so-called the Syrian free army which leaders are in Paris and in London. The Syrian army is at war not with the Syrian opposition which adjusted national dialogue with the Syrian government and is presented in the new Syrian government. The Syrian army is at war with agents of CIA and MI6, Turkish officers, the remains of a battalion of the French foreign legion, with the British SAS, with NATO mercenaries from Libya, with Qatar soldiers. The Syrian army is at war with wild geese from all a camp of Europe and from USA and Canada. The Syrian army is at war with fighters of Al-Qaeda and other Islamic terrorist organizations employed by the USA and France. The sum spent by the French government for war in Syria, already exceeds 600 million euros.

Foreign Ministry to UNSC Head and UN Secretary General: Terrorists Backed by Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey Committed Horrifying Crimes Against Civilians

Jul 31, 2012

DAMASCUS, SANA - In two identical letters addressed to the head of the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary General, the Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said that during the past few days, armed terrorist groups carried out attacks against innocent civilians and public and private property in Syria, particularly in Damascus and Aleppo.

The Ministry said that these armed terrorist group – which are backed openly with funds and weapons by Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey – committed horrifying crimes against innocent civilians in Damascus and Aleppo and are still doing so in Aleppo, where a large number of these terrorist mercenaries gathered as their entry into Syria was facilitated by Turkey, and they occupied several crowded neighborhoods and used locals as human shields, killing everyone that doesn't support their crimes and forcing others to leave their homes at gunpoint.

The letters pointed out that what calls attention is that all this took place after the recent visit of UN Envoy to Syria Kofi Annan in July 8th 2012, during which an agreement was reached regarding a number of steps to restore security and stability and Syria through the six-point plan and the results of the Geneva meeting.

The Ministry said that it's regrettable that those who claim to care for Syria and for ending the bloodshed of its people never made any calls for terrorist groups to end their armed operations and join the political process requested by the UN and approved by Syria to end bloodshed.

The letters noted that all the attempts made by the UN Supervision Mission in Syria (UNSMIS) in cooperation with the Syrian government to launch a political process failed due to the terrorists' refusal to engage in any political process, adding that this shouldn't surprise anyone because the terrorists' representatives refused engaging in such a process and issued dozens of statements rejecting the six-point plan, the results of the Geneva meeting, and what was agreed upon during Annan's visit to Damascus.

The Ministry said that hypocritical voices are growing louder in the capitals conspiring against Syria – particularly in Ankara, Doha, Riyadh, Washington, Paris, London and Berlin – and that they're accusing the Syrian government of escalating the situation rather than accusing the terrorists who attacked Damascus, Aleppo and other cities in a desperate attempt to provide a political cover for the actions of these groups – which include terrorists from Arab and foreign countries – and to provide material and moral support for them and cover up their crimes.

The letters went on to elaborate that these capitals' support for the terrorist groups includes the calls made by these countries' officials to hold other meetings of the UNSC and General Assembly to discuss Syria, despite the fact that the Syrian government and law-enforcement forces are exercising their right to defend innocent civilians as per international law, international humanitarian law, human rights law, and the international agreement signed by the Syrian government and the UNSMIS in 19/4/2012, specifically item 16 of said agreement.

The Ministry said that the most surprising thing is that some international sides – specifically permanent and non-permanent members of the UNSC – decided to work outside the UNSC and its procedures, which means that they relinquished their responsibilities and that they aim to escalate the Syrian crisis to reach their well-known goals of altering Syria's principle positions, imposing political conditions on it that contradict its people's aspirations, and destroying the Syrian state.

The letters said that out of concern over the moral role of the UNSC and in compliance with the UN Charter, Syria calls on all UNSC members to demand that armed groups withdraw from the Syrian cities they attacked and cease their terrorism, and to demand that the countries supporting the terrorists   cease their blatant tactics and support Annan's six-point plan and the agreement reached during Annan's meeting with the Syrian leadership in Damascus.

The Ministry concluded by saying that the Syrian government reiterates its commitment to carrying out Annan's plan and initiative and that that it welcomes the results of the Geneva meeting out of its declared belief that there is no solution for the Syrian crisis except through having the Syrian people's representatives engage in national dialogue to find a way out that ends bloodshed, protects Syrians' dignity, and guarantees the building of Syria's future and its stability through a Syrian decision and under a Syrian leadership.
